The Toy Trends For Christmas 2010
Christmas is always a difficult time of year for parents, as they try to juggle personal finances with getting their kids the perfect and in-demand gift. So to hopefully help parents out a bit, here’s an early look at what the top toys for this Christmas might be.
With the country still trying to pull themselves out of a national recession, spending is at an all-time low and many of the hot toys this year will reflect this, often coming in at £50 or less. With lower prices on the most in-demand toys, parents should have a much better chance of being able to afford the hottest Christmas presents of this year.
This years top toys, as with many previous years, are likely to include characters from the most popular film and TV shows in the country, as well as some old favourites.
When it’s young boys you’re looking to buy for, you should be aiming to discover the most popular film and television characters around. Toy Story, Transformers and Shrek immediately spring to mind, with Buzz Lightyear almost guaranteed to be a favourite amongst young children. You can expect Transformers toys to be very popular this year, given the huge buzz surrounding both the films and the games. Characters from the Shrek films are extremely likely to be popular this year, with the film set to be released in 2010 and toys from the franchise likely to make great Christmas gifts for him or her.
Remote controlled cars, tanks and helicopters are also set to be hugely popular this year, with RC helicopters in particular seeing a surge in popularity.
As for young girls, I would look at popular children’s shows such as Peppa Pig, who do a good job making toys that fit the popular show. Likely to reach a similar level of popularity are brands such as Bratz (hugely popular in 2009), Dora the Explorer and the seemingly ever popular Hannah Montana.
Sylvanian Family toys have been consistently popular with young children over the last few years, and it’s fairly likely that they’ll continue to be popular for Christmas 2010. If your daughter is a little bit older, you could opt for the Kidizoom Camera or a GOGO hamster, either of which would make a perfect Christmas gift for her.
