A Guide to Plasma TV Technology

By Ari Guyer, January 20, 2010 8:36 am

Plasma tv technology consists of hundreds of thousands of tiny pixel cells which are held between two panels of glass. Those cells hold a mixture of gasses. Electrical pulses excite the gas causing them to glow and produce light. Each pixel is made of three florescent lights. Those lights are coloured red, blue, and green. The colours blend together to create the overall colour of the pixel. The overall colour is used to produce what you see on your television.

Plasma tv’s offer impressive black colours and high contrast levels create a pleasurable viewing experience. This is favourable when watching shows or movies with dark scenes. The brightness, colour saturation, and strong contrast result in sharp, vivid images especially in dimly lit rooms. Plasmas are ideal in rooms with low to moderate lighting. Plasmas have a glass screen which can reflect a lot of light. This can be problematic in a room with a bright lighting from windows, skylights, or other lighting sources. Some manufactures have added glare reducing features to their plasma tvs.

Plasmas are a perfect choice for movies watchers, video gamers, and sports fanatics due to the plasma tvs quick response time. Fast images are displayed accurately and motion blur is negligible.

Because each plasma pixel produces its own light, plasma tv’s have a wide viewing angle. Images onscreen look virtually the same when viewed from the front or the side. TV placement and seating arrangement is not an issue with plasma televisions.

Burn-in on plasma televisions was an understandable concern several years ago. Static images were etched into the screen causing a burn in effect. Most plasma tv makers have now corrected the issue by increasing the time it takes before an image is etched in.

People looking for large tv screen will find plasma tvs to be an excellent choice. Until recently plasma tvs were the only affordable upgraded technology with screens larger than 40 inches. A plasma television may be mounted on a wall or placed on a tv stand. If a plasma tv is mounted it must be anchored properly due to the excessive weight. Professional installation is often recommended because a 60 inch plasma tv can weigh over 100 pounds.

Typically plasma television screens have a lifespan of about 60,000 hours. If watched 8 hours a day it is expected that the tv will last approximately 20 years. Energy usage is a consideration when purchasing a plasma television. Some manufacturers are producing brands that emit less heat and are more energy efficient.

Research is important when it comes time to purchase a plasma tv. Knowledgeable sales people at electronics stores can help you determine which plasma tv is right for you. Discount department stores and warehouse outlets often have a large selection of plasma tv’s to choose from. If you prefer to shop without the pressure from a sales person, research can be done online. Websites can be used to compare brands and prices on specific models.

Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers

By Jim Davies, January 15, 2010 8:36 am

Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers are unique because they don’t need a filter or fan. The technology used is called ionizer and uses charged particles to remove pollutants from the air. The ionizer technology creates air flow via charged particles from the difference in pressure created. As pollen, dust or other particles are forced through the unit, the charged plates attract the particles and remove them from the air. During the ionizer process an air stream is created between the two plates.

Breeze air purifiers are able to work without making any sound at all. Other air purifiers can make so much sound that they are unusable in a working environment. You will still need to clean an ionic purifier and we recommend you give it a clean with a cloth every 10 days.

Without the need for a fan, ionic breeze air purifiers can be far smaller than other types of air purifies. If you choose to go for a very small air purifier then we recommend that you increase the cleaning to once a week so you can keep the same level of efficiency.

This is a 5 step guide to keeping your ionic air purifier at full efficiency:

1. Only use your air purifier in an area that is free from ash and soot. Don’t leave it near a fireplace!

2. If you hear a static noise when the purifier is running the make sure you turn off the machine and clean out the collection grid.

3. Any indication of a red light will mean that the unit needs a clean. Once the red light is on, the ionic purifier will automatically switch off.

4. It is preferable to only use one power outlet for you breeze purifier. If possible do not share any power outlets with other appliances.

5. Try not to use your Ionic Breeze air purifier near to any appliances that transmit such as wireless routers or base stations for phones.

Nursery Decoration Hints and Tips

By les scammell, February 24, 2009 6:24 am

Decorating your little one’s nursery may seem difficult and stressful. After all, there are many decisions to make and lots of work to get done before your new baby arrives. However, the process of nursery decoration doesn’t have to be a difficult one. Here are some tips to help you end up with a cute, attractive nursery that’s perfect for your child.

Most of the time, no matter what color scheme you pick, you’ll want to keep the walls plain. This helps keep the room from feeling closed in, and you’ll save cash in the long run.Toddlers usually want to have their rooms decorated according to their personal choices. If the walls aren’t the best shape, you can use wall decals or wall stickers, which are removable, to add interest and cover up damage. These can easily and inexpensively be replaced later with ones your little one prefers. Alternatively, some parents choose to use childrens wallpaper on just one wall, for an interesting feature wall.

Choose curtains that are lined with blackout material to create a dark room for napping, and make sure that you choose color and pattern carefully. If you are unsure of the sex of your baby, stick to a neutral color scheme.Even parents who do know whether they’re having a boy or a girl often choose less gendered decorations, so they can reuse their nursery decor again for the next child.Pink is nice – unless you have a boy unexpectedly, or your baby girl has a brother.Avoid using bold or dark colors – lighter shades are best for a child’s room, particularly if it’s small.

Soft furnishings are easier to change out than wallpaper or paint, and make it easy to add a theme that you won’t be stuck with.A simple change of blanket or curtains can create a whole new look if you keep to neutral colors on the walls and floor.Common themes that are unisex include jungles, toys, ocean scenes and wild animals. For girls, princesses and fairies are often popular, while boys seem to like sports and cars. However, each child is different, and once yours has his or her own preferences, it’s hard to tell what will be best. That’s why an easily changeable nursery is usually the best idea.

It’s fairly simple to create your nursery and finish with one that looks cool. All you need to do is plan with care and pay close attention to your budget.A little creativity in decorating your nursery will allow you to have reusable items, in case you’re planning to have another child, and it’ll help you save cash, as well.

Take a look at your home, and exactly what you need from a nursery, before you get started. Then price compare and forward plan. You’ll end up with a nicely put together, attractively furnished nursery that’ll be perfect for your new baby.
