Have you decided that you want a change of image? Or would you merely like to smarten yourself up a bit? Perhaps you have a new career with new colleagues and you want to take this chance to dress a bit more elegantly. Sometimes individuals like to transform their image whilst they are looking for or have recently discovered a new partner.

While changing one’s image most people will focus on a new hair style and smarter clothes. Women may go for smart trouser suits or power dresses and men might decide to wear a lounge suit or a jacket and tie more often. If the weather is bad an expensive overcoat always completes the image, especially suede, cashmere or leather. It used to be that fur was de rigeur, but now it is duh.

However, there is another way of changing your image, a way that need not be that costly, although sometimes it takes courage to attempt it. That is the wearing or the using of accessories. Women have more scope here in numerous ways, but men have options as well.

Women can sport something in their new hair style; they can co-ordinate bags and shoes; they can wear a different kind of stockings or could begin wearing gloves, white kid, for example. They could modify the style of jewelery they wear and the colour or their hair and lipstick. Belts, brooches, watches and scarves can also serve the end of changing ones image. They could also wear a fresh flower on their lapel, in their hair or behind their ear for that old style gypsy look (that is the brave one).

Men have a slightly harder time of it without looking daft, but men can wear better shoes, wear a tie more often or a costly watch. They could carry a briefcase and an umbrella, and wear a flower in their button hole, but this is where it starts to look a bit contrived. They could also wear a monocle, a pocket watch or a bow tie.

My cousin wears a monocle and once you overcome your first instinct to laugh, you have to admit that he looks quite elegant. The same is the case with bow ties, which he wears as well and insists on tying it by hand. He also carries an umbrella, a briefcase and wears pinstripes. He is very brave and he is noticed and remembered wherever he goes.

However, you do not need to go that far. Even simply wearing a bow tie instead of a tie will set you apart. Have you noticed that if you are talking to someone wearing a bow tie you cannot help yourself staring at it? It is the men’s equivalent of a woman’s low-cut dress.

Anyway, accessories are a cheaper way of altering your image than going out and buying a new wardrobe of outfits and they are more easily combined that different suits. Go for colours that blend easily, like blacks, greys, browns and off-whites. Understatement is usually better than garish.

The clothing industry is utterly massive and is certainly one of the biggest industries in the world employing millions of people, especially in Asia. A retailer has to sell a great deal of this stuff to make a living.

The big money in the clothing industry comes from unusual clothing. That is specialized garments and by ‘specialized garments’, here I am including high fashion, haute couture and designer clothing. People, particularly women, like to keep up with the latest styles and in the realm of fashion a small fold here or a slight tuck there is all it takes to demonstrate that one skirt is this year’s fashion and that that one is last year’s.

Plus size clothing is an unusual case. Plus size clothing is expensive, but it was not fashionable for a long, long time. Manufacturers seemed to believe for decades that plus size people were content to wear black or garish colours. They seemed to think that plus sizers were not interested in fashion. Often the plus size department would be dumped next to the maternity department and not in the fashion section.

Even though the state of affairs is getting better for the plus size woman, the fabrics and the colours used in plus size clothing still tend to be different from those used for the sizes ten and twelve.

The colours are often flashier and the styling tends to make plus size women look older especially when they are dressed in formal evening wear.

The alternative is to go to specialist plus size clothing stores, but this is where they have you again. Specialized fashion translates into very expensive, so very few large women can afford to obtain their clothing from these stores.

A good question to ponder upon is this: if there is a crisis of obesity in the western world in general, why does the fashion industry focus on smaller, often younger, women? Older, often heavier, women have more money that their younger counterparts too.

It is true that the situation is getting better on the fashion front for plus sizers and people are also trying to lose weight, so perhaps the two sides will slowly draw nearer to one another.

In the meantime, larger ladies have to discover a way of making the world’s manufacturers of ladies clothing comprehend that they want fashionable plus size clothing made in exactly the same style, from exactly the same material and in exactly the same colours as the clothing that they make for smaller women.

The holidays are coming around and many people like to dress up for it! There are people who dress up as trees or elves or anything else they can think of! Many choose to dress up to look like santa. How do you go about recreating a great santa suit though? In this article I will tell you how!

How do I make my suit? What do I use to make it?

The first thing you will have to do is obtain the materials you need to make your suit. If you want to go the easy route then all you have to do is buy a beard, suit, and other items and put them together. If you’re looking to make your own from scratch then you can use some cotton, a pillow, glue that is alright for contact on the skin, and red cloth with sewing materials.

Step one is to make your suit. This part will be the hardest as it will require you to know how to sew. Sew red cloth together to make a full body suit but leave some extra space around the gut unless your own suffices. Also sew a little hat and make it form a pyramid to the tip. After you suit is complete keep in mind what the pillow is for. It’s to give you your jolly santa gut!

The next step is to make the beard. Do this my taking cotton and stretching it out and making it fluffy. Make sure you leave a space for your mouth so you can have a mustache as well. Then use your special glue to put it on your face!. You will also need to attach some cotton to the top of your hat.

That is how you make a santa suit. It isn’t too difficult and you can add more to it at your leisure. With time you can have the best suit ever!
