We are in the middle of a large fund raising exercise for our local volunteer fire fighters. We’re expecting a long hot summer and that generally means a forest fire or two, and if they take off, we are in trouble. We are trying to raise enough for a fire house engine and fire hoses including an extra long single jacket fire hose.
The fire hoses we have covered. The fire house engine, well that’s going to take some fund raising. We’re getting there, and hopefully come summer, we’ll be fully equipped for whatever the heat delivers. Hopefully, we’ll also do enough now to reduce the fuel on the ground – fingers crossed anyway.
Businesses around the world often pay lip service to social and environmental issues. Sure, they throw the occasional dollar at a charity, and they may even help to promote those causes. In most cases, it is only lip service. The management of a business passes the management of who gets what and when down to others, for example, a PR or marketing department. It then becomes a PR issue, not a social or environmental issue.
Other businesses take a real hands on approach. Management becomes involved with the process, they actually take a hands on approach. The sterkly pride of lions is a good example. Mind you, I don’t know how “hands-on” they are, I am not sure I would want to try a hands-on approach to an adult lion. However, the intent is there, and that’s what’s important.
Is it okay for a doctor to make a mistake, then use the “it’s okay, I’m only human, and we all make mistakes occasionally” excuse? These days, it’s definitely not. We all expect our doctors to be spot on perfect every time – they’re not human, they’re robots. When a doctor does make a mistake, watch the daggers come out, at least, watch the lawyers come out. Suing a doctor is as common today as buying milk – and some patients are winning huge payouts for minor problems.
A good doctor needs
new york medical malpractice insurance. Without that insurance, they are bankrupt if found to have erred. In some areas, a doctor cannot practice medicine if they do not have malpractice insurance first.
Kids safety starts at home. Over the years there have been hundreds, if not thousands of accidents causing injury or death to children in swimming pools. The simple fact is – we can’t watch children 24/7. It only takes one distraction and kids can wander anywhere, and they always tend to look for mischief. Swimming pools mean water, and kids love water.
Yet it only takes a swimming pool safety net and your children are safe. That net will give them something to hold onto should they fall in, and it will also make it easier for you to retrieve them. What is your child’s life worth – the cost of a safety net for your pool?
To me, sound is sound. I don’t really pick up the finer details that many other purists talk about. When I buy speakers or headphones, it’s always been the cheaper versions. To me, the sound from all of them was the same, no matter the costs.
A friend recently challenged me to an experiment. They lined up four sets of headphones, all hooked up to the one output device, and asked me to listen to the one piece of music for all four – blindfolded. The idea was, would I have a preference for one of them. This was to be based on sound alone, not comfort.
I was up for it, gave it a try, and I must admit I did find that the sound quality did differ. The one I preferred was a set of Monster headphones- and they were comfortable as well. Perhaps sound isn’t just sound although I don’t know if I could justify spending big money on a set of headphones – fortunately I don’t have to.
