Hot Wheels For A Hot Set Of Wheels

By , August 25, 2011 11:06 pm

I have a neighbor that has one of the hottest looking cars that I have seen in a long while. It’s red, naturally, what hot car isn’t. It absolutely flies when he gives it full throttle, it certainly beats me off the standing start by a long stretch. He loves that car – he polishes it everyday and if anyone dares to go near it, look out.

What I can’t understand is why he has such crappy wheels on the thing. You look at the car it just rocks, until you get to the wheels. They black and look totally out of place. What he needs really is a a hot set of custom wheels unlimited. Good rubber on the wheels, and he’ll have the perfect hot car.

Recreation Vehicles Need To Be Protected Too

By , March 10, 2011 10:14 pm

We insure our homes, our cars, and even our lives. I know some people insure their boats as well. Do you insure your RV? You should since the investment you make is quite sizeable. Obtaining an rv insurance quote is easy these days. Get on the internet and within five minutes you’ll have a range of quotes from which to pick from.

Recreation vehicles are expensive to replace these days. They have kept their value while many other vehicles have slipped. Simple repairs can be expensive, especially if you’re a long way from home. Insure your RV and you’ll have peace of mind – if something goes wrong, your vehicle is covered, and, depending on your insurance, so are you!

Are You Willing To Have Your Driving Habits Monitored

By , February 11, 2011 10:04 am

There are some insurance companies that are willing to reduce premiums for drivers that are safe. How do they determine if you are safe? they monitor you of course. A device is fitted to the car that records all activities including speeding, braking, swerving (sudden movements of the steering wheel) and lane hopping. Using this data, insurance companies are hoping to offer the cheapest auto insurance available to safe motorists.

I have two reservations, the first being the length of the monitoring. If it’s a permanent tool, then it could work well. If it’s temporary thing, then I can see some drivers (if not most) driving very sedately while being monitored. The second issue is similar in that a driver could ask someone else to drive their car around for the monitoring period. Either way, it is a form of fraud – but I guess the thinking of most people is that it’s just and insurance company.

Ford European Car Of The Year With A…

By , November 10, 2009 9:29 am

While the now profitable Ford Motor Company has been in the spotlight regarding the sale of the brands that the comprise Premiere Auto Group, its European division will have something new to show come this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Ford only major mainstream manufacturer in Europe to not offer a compact sport utility vehicle (or a sport utility vehicle whatsoever) since it withdrew the Maverick (Escape) from the market during the early part of the decade. The car that will be shown at Frankfurt is a refined version of the iosis X concept that was displayed at last year’s Paris auto show, and should fill in this much-needed gap nicely.

Kuga (pronounced: koo-gah) sounds like a play on the Mercury two-door coupe (Cougar), but it’s got nothing in common with the big American cat (the final generation of which was also sold in Europe under the blue-oval badge). The edgy, ‘Kinetic Design’ styling of the Kuga blends many of the traits of new European-market Ford products, such as the curved and sporting roof line of the S-Max people carrier, the wheels of the high-performance Focus ST220, and the detailed headlamps and upturned grille of the freshly launched Mondeo midsized sedan, but sports bulging fenders and beefier lower cladding to give it a stronger, more durable look. Ford’s aim is to give the typical compact crossover a sportier look, something that only Mazda has successfully done with its CX-7.

Ford’s Designer for Exteriors, Stefan Lamm said, ‘Kuga is adventurous and distinctive, and we wanted to highlight this in our first official image . . . We believe that there is a role for a more athletic and charismatic vehicle that marks a departure from the norm, in the same way that the award-winning Ford S-Max carved out new territory for an MPV.’

While the official details about its platform and powertrain have yet to be announced, the Kuga will ride on the compact C1 platform that is shared with the European Ford Focus, Mazda3, and Mazda compact range. While the production engines are expected to include a series of economical four-cylinder and diesel engines, the Kuga is actually rumoured to be the first product developed by Ford of Europe to feature a gasoline-electric hybrid system. Ford will build the Kuga at its Saarlouis plant in Germany, with production expected to begin next spring. That’s about the same time that Volkswagen’s compact ute, the Tiguan, will hit the assembly line a few thousand kilometres away in Portugal.

Like most of Ford of Europe’s products, it’s pretty much set in stone that we won’t be getting the Kuga, though it’s been rumoured that Ford’s CEO Alan Mulally and his product development boss, Derek Kuzak want it and the Ford C-Max concept crossover for our market. Wouldn’t it be great if this little soft roader / compact crossover ended up on our shores as the replacement to the Escape?
